CADA QUAL NO SEU BARRIL was devised by Bruna Longo and Daniela Flor in 2011 from the desire to create an inclusive performance for children and adults using physical theater techniques. Nine years after its premiere, it is still touring and it has been performed in different formats: indoor theaters, small and large stages, on the round, and streets and squares!
Freely inspired by the book Two Idiots Sitting Each in their own Barrel by Ruth Rocha, actresses Bruna Longo and Daniela Flor devised a physical dramaturgy in which two castaways find themselves isolated together on a desert island. Influenced by cartoon characters and classical silent films, the performance has no spoken text and deals with themes that are not usually explored in theatre for children: intolerance, violence and war. In an age of ignorance, division and trivialization of violence, the denial / misunderstanding of what is different (ethnicity, social status, religion and sexuality, evident in the headlines) are realities to which children are constantly being exposed. Dealing with these themes in a good-natured way and using the physicality of cartoons allows the actresses to establish a direct dialogue with audiences off all ages.
